Legal context from Larson Law

This section is the firm’s general explanation of Massachusetts law. It is not a statement about this crash or the people involved.

In most Massachusetts crashes, the first source of payment for medical bills and lost wages is Personal Injury Protection, known as PIP. According to the state Division of Insurance, PIP pays medical expenses, up to 75% of lost wages and replacement services, up to $8,000, no matter who caused the crash. Our guide to what to do after a car accident covers the first steps after a crash.

Claims beyond PIP depend on who was at fault, and they have deadlines. Our page on Massachusetts injury claim deadlines and notice requirements lists each one.
